MAX RICHTER’S SLEEP
Max Richter’s landmark 8.5 hour work “Sleep” explores new ways for music and consciousness to interact, a “personal lullaby for a frenetic world…a manifesto for a slower pace of existence.”
Centring around the open-air concert in Los Angeles, as well as footage from the sold-out performances in Berlin, New York and Paris, we are plunged deep into the artist’s life and process, transcending the work to explore his legacy. Personal reflections from Max Richter, and visual archive from his long-term creative partner Yulia Mahr help build this intimate and ground-breaking visual story which studies the universal experience of sleep that unites us all. This story is a rare expression of a global community, unified – both a meditative respite from and a protest against the rush and chaos of the modern world.
