The MakeCoProDox Forum is a regional platform supporting creative documentary projects from the Balkans through mentorship, project development, and international industry exchange. Organised within the MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival in Skopje, the Forum aims to strengthen documentary co-production and collaboration between filmmakers from the region and international partners.

Our forum focuses on story development, production strategy, financing, and distribution positioning, and provides filmmakers with the opportunity to present their projects to invited international producers, festival programmers, funding bodies, sales agents, and distributors.

Eligibility criteria:

We are looking for projects that:

• are in development, early production, or late production stage
• are produced, co-produced, or filmed in one or more of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey
• have a director with a strong creative vision
• have a producer attached

What you get at MakeCoProDox Forum?

Selected teams will participate in a two-week development program followed by the in-person industry forum in Skopje.

The program includes:

• Online mentorship sessions with international documentary professionals
• Development support focused on storytelling, production strategy, financing, and distribution
• Public pitching forum during the MakeDox Festival
• One-to-one meetings with invited international producers, festival programmers, funding bodies, sales agents, and distributors
• Participation in industry panels, case studies, and networking activities
• Selected projects will compete for awards offered by international partners, including financial prizes and networking opportunities within the European documentary industry

MakeCoProDox Mentors:

The development workshop will be guided by experienced international mentors, including:

• Brigid O’Shea – Documentary Association of Europe
• Zeynep Güzel – Documentary Association of Europe
• Victor Ede – producer, Cinephage Productions (France)

Participation:

Participation in the MakeCoProDox Forum is free of charge.

Selected participants are encouraged to seek travel support from their national film funds. If such support is not available, MakeDox will attempt to provide partial financial assistance, depending on available resources.

Applicants will be asked to provide project information and development materials, including:

1. Synopsis (1000 characters)
2. Artistic approach (1 page)
3. Treatment (2 pages)
4. Total budget amount in EUR
5. Financing plan in EUR (with status of confirmed/pending/planned finances)
6. Production details (expected delivery date, what you’re looking for) & Company info (bio, website, contact)

Please note:
• Resubmissions are possible, but applicants must indicate what has changed since the previous submission.
• One production company may submit a maximum of two projects.
• All sessions will be held in English.
